Can’t complete AVI to MP4 conversion?

I was trying to convert AVI to MP4, the file is about 105M, but the conversion seems never finish even when the process bar shows 100% complete, what’s the problem? I don’t want to waste my money if this AVI to MP4 converter is totally a rogue program for I just purchased it 2 days ago!
