Halo games don't seem to work on my xbox?

I have an Xbox arcade from a couple years ago and halo games don't seem to work on it. When I first got it, I bought halo 3 and that didn't work, so I took it back to the store. When halo reach came out, I bought that as well. It also didn't work so I it exchanged for another copy which also didn't work. Recently, my brother bought a copy of Halo 3 and it doesn't work. Every other game I own works perfectly on it, so I'm just wondering what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated.
