How can I get him to stop texting me?

So about a month ago, I met this guy who lives in a different state (he was visiting and was at a party I went to). We exchanged numbers and for the first week, he was nice and sweet and I had fun talking to him. Gradually though, I realized that we really don't have much in common and we didn't have much to talk about anymore. I thought maybe I could just gradually stop replying to him and make the conversations shorter and he'd get the point. The problem is, he never stops texting me! He texts me every morning, every afternoon, and even late at night like 12 am. I guess he's more interested in me than I am in him. I don't want to hurt him, so how can I get him to stop?
