I need help with sending a picture to my phone.?

I want to send a picture from my hotmail account to my phone via email. I tried adding it as an attachment and sending it to [phone number]@VTEXT.COM but it sends the picture to my phone as a regular text message. The text message just names the file I wanted to send. I have the picture saved on my computer but no matter which email account I use, the picture doesnt make it to my phone. Does anybody know how to send this picture to my phone right? I've got the Samsung Rogue SCH - U960. I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong or what so please help me out.
